Following an incredible debut competition season, Hampshire Caledonian Pipe Band is delighted to announce the next step in our journey as we continue building towards an even bigger and stronger 2027 – with the welcome of Tom Trimbee.
With a wealth of competitive experience and an impressive record of success, Tom Trimbee joins Hampshire Caledonian as our new Lead Drummer for the 2027 competition season.
Tom’s pipe band journey began at just six years old, growing up in a family deeply involved in the competitive pipe band scene. His competition debut came at the Scottish Championships in Dumbarton with the University of Bedfordshire Pipe Band, where the band secured an impressive third place in drumming.
Over the following four years, Tom continued to develop as a drummer, collecting numerous prizes across the competition circuit before joining SGA South. There, he enjoyed success across both the drumming and piping disciplines.
Tom then moved to Macanta Pipe Band, where he enjoyed the most successful chapter of his career to date. During his time with the band, he was part of championship-winning drum corps that secured:
- 🏆 2× European Championships
- 🏆 2× Scottish Championships
- 🏆 2× World Pipe Band Championship Champion of Champions titles
- 🏆 World Pipe Band Championship Drumming Championship
Most recently, Tom was a member of City of Plymouth Pipe Band, enjoying an outstanding season that culminated in an impressive sixth-place finish at the World Pipe Band Championships.
Tom Trimbee Looking ahead to 2027
Speaking about joining Hampshire Caledonian, Tom said:
“I hope to bring a wealth of passion, experience, and commitment to drumming and pipe bands, and I truly hope this is the beginning of a successful journey for us all in 2027 and beyond. We have some fantastic talent already within the band, with even more exciting players waiting to come in.”
We are incredibly excited to welcome Tom to Hampshire Caledonian and look forward to seeing him lead our competition drum corps as we begin the next chapter of the band’s journey.
After such a successful first year of competition, the foundations are firmly in place. With new players joining, experienced members continuing to develop and Tom bringing his knowledge and experience to the drum corps, there is plenty to look forward to in 2027.
A sincere thank you to Dave Robinson
As we welcome Tom into the role, we would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Dave Robinson, who has done a fantastic job leading our drum corps through our very first competition season.
Dave’s dedication, hard work and guidance have been instrumental in helping Hampshire Caledonian achieve such a successful debut year. His contribution has helped establish the foundations of our competition drum corps, and we are delighted that his experience and leadership will continue to play an important role within the band.
Dave will continue as Lead Drummer of our non-competing band, where he will remain an invaluable member of the Hampshire Caledonian family.
The next chapter begins
Our debut competition season exceeded expectations, and now the focus turns firmly towards 2027.
We are building. We are growing. And we are only getting started.
Please join us in giving Tom a very warm Hampshire Caledonian welcome! 💙🥁
