Our first year of competition has been one to remember, and we stepped onto the competition field with plenty to prove – and we couldn’t be prouder of what our players achieved.
From indoor competitions at the start of the season to our final outings of the year, the band consistently performed strongly, securing podium finishes across quartets, mini bands and full band competitions.
Gordons School Indoor Minibands & Quartets Competition
Our competitive journey got off to an incredible start at the Gordons School Indoor Minibands & Quartets Competition, where we immediately made our mark:
🥇 1st – MSR Quartet
🥈 2nd – March Mini Band
A fantastic start to our first ever competition season and a huge confidence boost for the band.
Jim McGinn Indoor Competition
We carried that momentum into the Jim McGinn Indoor Competition, once again achieving two podium finishes:
🥇 1st – MSR Quartet
🥉 3rd – March Quartet
Colchester – Pipes in the Park
Next came Pipes in the Park at Colchester, where the band continued its impressive run:
🥇 1st – MSR Quartet
🥉 3rd – March Quartet
Corby Highland Gathering
Our final competition of the season at the Corby Highland Gathering proved to be our strongest performance yet, with an incredible four podium finishes:
🥇 1st – MSR Quartet
🥇 1st – Mini Band March
🥈 2nd – March Quartet
🥈 2nd – Full Band March
To finish our first competitive season with four podium positions, including two first-place finishes, was a fantastic achievement for everyone involved.
Terry also took on the challenge of competing in CLASP Grade 2, gaining valuable experience and finishing the season with some fantastic results. We were also delighted to see Frankie enter solo competitions in the Juvenile category for the first time!
These individual achievements are just as important to us as our band results. They demonstrate the depth of talent within Hampshire Caledonian and, most importantly, the opportunities we are creating for our players to develop and challenge themselves.
Looking back, our first year of competition has exceeded expectations. Behind every trophy and result are countless hours of practice, rehearsals, travelling, tuning, learning new material and, most importantly, a group of people who have committed themselves to improving together.
For a band in its first year of competition, we couldn’t have asked for a better start.
A huge thank you goes to every player, supporter, family member and everyone who has helped Hampshire Caledonian along the way.
The first chapter is written. Now we’re looking forward to seeing what comes next.
